THE SEA GIVES UP ITS DEAD WITH RELUCTANCE
Vladimir Zhuravlev, Parlamentskaya Gazeta, January 16, 2001, p. 7
SUMMARY:

The United States lost several submarines and deep-sea rescue vessels were designed. The Mystic and the Avalon always participate in Sorbent Royal NATO exercises but never come to anybody's rescue.

Nobody in the world has the experience in operations like the one planned to take place in the Barents Sea. Nevertheless, specialists say that the Kursk may and should be lifted from the seabed. For the time being, ships of the Russian Northern Fleet patrol the site of the catastrophe.
