WHAT KIND OF NAVY DOES RUSSIA NEED?
Captain 3rd Class Andrei Gavrilenko, Krasnaya Zvezda, February 10, 2001

An interview with Rear Admiral Lev Sidorenko, Chairman of the Naval Scientific Committee of the Russian Navy.

SUMMARY:

Sidorenko: There can be no doubts that collisions of interests in the ocean are inevitable. As I see it, countries of the West are already pursuing a policy aimed at weakening Russia as a naval power and eliminating it as a potential rival.

Numerous problems related to the Kursk catastrophe are attributed to the economic crisis in the country.
