Contents and authorship of the second note were classified. It stands to reason to assume that the note reveals everything there is to know about the death of the submarine.

Off the record, staff officers of the Northern Fleet say the note was written by Lieutenant Captain Rashid Aryapov. His widow is not shown the note and told it had been written by somebody else.
