ENVIRONMENTALISTS OR SPIES
Anton Ivanitsky, Novaya Gazeta, March 22, 2001
SUMMARY:

Funding of the Kursk operation in the Barents Sea is the talk of the day in Norway.

The operation is postponed for the fall. Official Moscow claims the International Foundation Kursk cannot raise the money.

Secretary Rio Praaning says the Kursk will be left on the seabed unless Russia accepted a compromise.

Deputy Premier Ilya Klebanov hints that Russia itself will sponsor the operation if the money is not raised.

Not so long ago the Norwegian organization Bellona was accused of espionage. These time, all of Norway was accused by the Russian media of giving shelter to the submarine that rammed the Kursk.
