THE KURSK CREW IS BEING DROWNED
Nikolai Cherkashin, Sergei Ptichkin, Rossiiskaya Gazeta, April 12, 2001
SUMMARY:

Vladimir Saranov, a journalist, "entered the classified object in Severomorsk for a package of smokes" and made a sensation. There had been a mutiny on the Kursk.

According to the popular Moscow-based newspaper, survivors in the Kursk tried to get to the command post but Lieutenant Captain Dmitry Kolesnikov barred their way. Allegedly, he was assaulted by the crew. Allegedly, Kolesnikov wrote in his last message he wished he had had a gun to shoot the panicked sailors.

This is rubbish. No forensic expert could see any marks on Kolesnikov's head because it was burnt to the point that made visual identification almost impossible. The explosion left many survivors crippled and clearly unable to assault their officer.
