FUEL BEING WITHDRAWN FROM NPS KURSK
Kommersant, February 27, 2003, p. 4

An operation of withdrawing fuel from the Nuclear Powered Submarine (NPS) Kursk has begun in Murmansk. The first phase of this operation includes making space for the Imandra depot ship in the floating dock, Chief Engineer Rostislav Rimdenka said. Later on, the depot ship is supposed to transport fuel from the NPS Kursk into the floating fuel depository Lotta. The nuclear waste will be delivered to the Atomflot enterprise of Murmansk, wherefrom it will be dispatched for Production Association Mayak for recycling. After that, the Nerpa Plant may begin recycling the NPS Kursk.
