THE AMERICANS CONFIRM THE HYPOTHESIS OFFERED BY THE KOMSOMOLSKAYA PRAVDA
Viktor Baranets, Komsomolskaya Pravda, January 24, 2001, p. 3
SUMMARY:

The Kursk was undone by two explosions and not by a collision, specialists of the American Geophysical Union say citing seismograph readings. The first explosion was 250 times weaker than the second that took place 135 seconds after the first. The Americans assume that the first one was an explosion of torpedo about to be launched close to the surface, and the second explosion was caused by the fire raging in the torpedo compartment.

These conclusions confirm the hypothesis offered by the Komsomolskaya Pravda (see Komsomolskaya Pravda, November 30 and December 6, 2000).
